BELLINGHAM, Wash. — PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center is the first in the state to offer a revolutionary new lung valve treatment to help patients with emphysema.

The hospital says the FDA-approved device will help patients breathe easier without major surgery, which will improve their quality of life by making their daily routines and activities more comfortable.

78-year-old Mount Vernon resident Marjorie Cowee was the first patient to undergo the procedure at St. Joseph’s on October 10th and she says she now feels like a new person.
