OLYMPIA, Wash. – The state Attorney General is looking to overhaul Washington state’s robocall laws in the new year.

AG Bob Ferguson said that he will be partnering with state Representative Mari Leavitt to update the laws.

Under the proposed legislation, falsifying a caller ID or robocalling someone on the national Do Not Call Registry would be illegal.

Voice service providers who willingly allow robocalls to continue through their networks would also be punished.

Similar laws are already in effect in Florida and Oklahoma.
