ANACORTES, Wash – Several Washington State government agencies have now unified their response to the August 19th spill of farmed Atlantic Salmon from the Cooke Aquaculture net pen at Cypress Island.

The Department of Natural Resources, Department of Fish and Wildlife and Ecology, Washington State Emergency Management, and the Office of the Governor have set up a joint incident command based in Anacortes to jointly manage the response.

In a news release announcing the response, Governor Jay Inslee says he has directed the department of Natural Resources to not issue any new leases for marine Atlantic salmon net pens until a full review of the incident has been completed.
