OLYMPIA, Wash. – A meeting this week by the Washington State Board of Health is generating a lot of interest and some misinformation.

Some reports have portrayed a state law on the Wednesday, January 12th, meeting’s agenda as a vaccine mandate for kids or even a plan to incarcerate unvaccinated citizens.

The board has posted information about the meeting that says that’s a gross misreading of its agenda.

The board will hear from a technical advisory group that is considering whether COVID-19 shots should be included in required vaccines for children.

The advisory group will eventually make a recommendation but the board is not bound to adopt it.

And current exemptions for children and their families would still be allowed under any mandate.

The board also says another item on its agenda does not include changes to isolation or quarantine rules or have anything to do with law enforcement being used for any vaccine requirements.
