WASH. – When making your way along Washington trailheads, be aware someone is going around posting fake warning signs about Asian giant hornets.
The signs claim to be from the Department of Natural Resources and warn Asian giant hornets, nicknamed “murder hornets,” are nesting in the area.
The State Department of Agriculture says in a Facebook post these signs are fake and contain mostly false information.
Asian giant hornet stings are not fatal to humans unless they’re stung dozens of times or have severe allergies.
The invasive species is most dangerous to honeybees as just a few can decimate an entire colony.
