OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Department of Health is now recommending people wear cloth face coverings when they are in public settings where they cannot maintain 6 feet of distance from others.

This is in line with new guidance from the CDC.

The department says trips where you may want to wear cloth face coverings might include trips to the grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, health clinic or similar places.

The recommendation is not a mandate, and not meant as a substitute for existing guidance to maintain 6-feet of physical distancing from non-family members and practice frequent 20-second hand washing with soap and warm water.
