BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A state grant could bring down the cost of a local environmental improvement project.
The City of Bellingham posted on its website that they were at the top of the list to receive a $500,000 grant from the state’s Recreation and Conservation Office.
The funding would cut the total cost of the Boulevard Park shoreline project in half.
Erosion along part of the park’s shoreline has led city crews to install hazard fencing to limit damage to the area.
Construction on the shoreline is expected to begin in 2023 or 2024.
