OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State insurance commissioner is promising to change his tone after several of his staff members filed complaints about his behavior.

Northwest News reports the employees accuse Commissioner Mike Kreidler of verbally berating them on several occasions.

The complaints state that Kreidler became angry on a whim, belittling employees over minor inconveniences.

Some added that his comments were particularly harsh towards women, a claim that Kreidler has since denied.

Current employees said that the environment has deteriorated significantly in the past year alone.

Between January 2021 and February 2022, nearly a quarter of Kreidler’s 260 staff members quit or resigned.

Kreidler responded to the allegations on Thursday, March 3rd,  saying he has since apologized to his staff.

He added that he will put more effort into recognizing how his behavior may impact others.
