OLYMPIA, Wash. — Free internet is coming to a parking lot near you.

Several Washington companies, including The Washington State Broadband Office and Microsoft, are teaming up to establish hundreds of drive-in WiFi hotspots as they launch a statewide push for universal public access broadband.

There are currently drive-in hotspots at all libraries in Whatcom County and more may be on the way.

Each will have its own security program, some being open and others having Children’s Internet Protection Act safe security.
