OLYMPIA, Wash. — A day after a bill that would have limited how many rounds can be stored in gun magazines and what guns can be sold did not pass in Olympia, Democrats were back with a new proposal Thursday designed to beat a deadline this past Wednesday for non-budget bills to pass.

The original high-capacity magazine bill passed out of House and Senate committees but never came up on the floor for debate.

House Speaker Laurie Jinkins tells KING 5 that’s because Republicans loaded it up with unrelated amendments.

Democrats introduced a bill Thursday that would get around the deadline by tying it to the state budget.

It would allow high capacity gun magazine owners to sell them to the state.

Issues dealing with the budget can still be considered.

Republicans also vow to fight this bill.
