WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The state ordered $3 million worth of cannabis to be destroyed in Walla Walla County this week as three different farms were accused of growing more plants than the law allows.
Evergreen Nirvana, Green Volcano and Black Diamond Cannabis were the companies told by the Liquor and Cannabis Board that their operations were not in compliance and that about 13,000 pounds of cannabis would be destroyed.
That was about half their total crop.
The owners of the farms say they’re operating within the law and are being unfairly penalized in response to complaints from competitors.
A representative for the state board says a lack of understanding between an officer and the growers led to the confusion.
