OLYMPIA, Wash. — As the New Year holiday approaches, state agencies are reminding drivers and passengers to celebrate safely.

Washington is working to reduce traffic fatalities to zero by the year 2030 in an effort called Target Zero, which means the State Patrol will be educating drivers when necessary — even on Washington State Ferries.

The Washington State Patrol says the New Year’s holiday in particular has led to problems in the past, including a DUI arrest at the Fauntleroy ferry terminal, multiple assaults, and even partially disrobed passengers on the Seattle-Bainbridge route in 2016.
