BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A local shelter dog has found a new home with the Washington State Patrol.

The Whatcom Humane society says longtime shelter dog Momma left Tuesday with state patrol troopers Walstead and McKorkle.

The troopers apparently met with Momma a few times this week, putting her through a series of tests to see if she was a good candidate for their K9 Explosive Detection Unit.

The troopers told WHS staff that she was indeed an ideal candidate because she has a good nose and is confident and courageous.

Plus, she’s very ball motivated, which makes training for the program easier.
