OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington State Patrol is conducting a statewide “Slow Down, Move Over” emphasis this weekend, urging drivers to abide by the “Move Over Law” after a number of accidents and injuries.
The State Patrol says the law requires vehicles to use caution, slow down and change lanes when approaching an emergency or work zone.
Drivers who do not use caution in these areas will be fined $214.
The Washington State Patrol contacted nearly 4,000 violators last year.
