SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. – A State Patrol trooper recently became the first trooper to save someone’s life using the newly issued drug naloxone, which is known by the brand name NARCAN.

The drug is used to revive people who have overdosed on opioids.

The Patrol says in a news release that the trooper found a driver unconscious in an SUV on a rural road in Skagit County on August 26th.

The man was a suspect in a hit and run crash on Highway 9 south of Sedro Woolley.

After he was revived, the man was arrested on a number of charges related to the crash.
