OLYMPIA, WASH. (AP) – Marijuana stores are being allowed to give customers free lockable storage boxes.
Governor Jay Inslee signed a bill that supporters say helps protect kids and pets from accidentally eating pot.
“It’s important that we keep minors, especially young children, from accessing marijuana,” Inslee says.
The free box can’t be contingent on a purchase or used to market marijuana products.
Stores can also sell the lock boxes, but only if they don’t make a profit on them.
Inslee also signed a measure that authorizes the State Department of Agriculture to regulate marijuana-infused edibles.
