State Sen. Ranker steps down from committee leadership

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A state lawmaker who is the subject of an investigation into allegations of improper conduct stepped down from his leadership positions on two Senate committees.

Senator Kevin Ranker, a Democrat from Orcas Island, has been under investigation since last fall.

Senate leadership says they are reconfiguring the committees as Ranker steps down as chair of the newly proposed Environment & Tourism Committee, and as vice chair of the Ways and Means Committee.
