OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The state Senate Labor and Commerce Committee held a hearing on a bill that would authorize tribal casinos, private card rooms and horse racing tracks to offer sports betting, both on-site and via mobile devices.
The owner of gambling rooms across the state spoke in support of the bill, saying people in Washington are already illegally betting on sports with bookies and off-shore companies.
Eric Persson tells KOMO that high tech safeguards built into gambling apps would prevent children from accessing them.
Other bills would limit sports betting to tribal casinos and only from within those casinos.
None of the bills have been voted on yet.
