OLYMPIA, WASH. (AP) – The State Senate passes a $43 billion two-year state budget proposal.

The Republican-backed budget relies, in part, on a statewide property tax earmarked for education.

It passed on a party-line 25-24 vote.

The spending plan would raise property taxes in some districts, while lowering them for others and also making cuts to some social services

House Democrats are set to release and pass their own budget proposal next week.
