FERNDALE, Wash. – A local politician is lauding the Trump administration’s decision to abandon the Obama-era clean power plan aimed at reducing global warming.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said the Obama-era rule exceeded federal law.

Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen of Ferndale is applauding the move.

“The Trump administration understands the constitution. They understand the tenth amendment,” Ericksen said. “They also understand it’s the role of the congress to be able to approve major changes with what’s happening with our energy policies.”

Ericksen temporarily worked at the EPA in Washington D.C. as part of President Trump’s transition team.

Before that, he was Trump’s Deputy State Campaign Director.

Ericksen says he plans to talk about environmental policy at a town hall meeting at Western Washington University on Thursday evening at seven in the Viking Union Building.
