OLYMPIA, WASH. – Republican State Senator Dino Rossi says he sponsored, “the biggest tax increase in Washington state history.”

However, Rossi also says “I have every intention of voting against it.”

Rossi says the bill he introduced is identical to the tax proposal from House Democrats, who passed their budget without voting on a revenue package.

Democratic Representative Pat Sullivan says republicans have refused to negotiate.

“There are many areas of the budget where we’re in disagreement. It’s going to take time for us to negotiate that compromise,” Sullivan says.

Without a budget agreement, lawmakers go into overtime, with a special session beginning Monday.
