BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The state is stepping up to prevent Whatcom County child care opportunities from disappearing.

In November, Kids’ World Child Care announced that financial constraints would cause them to close all five of its Whatcom County locations.

The Boys & Girls Club of Whatcom County decided to take over their operations, and the Bellingham City Council approved a $100,000 grant to help the cause.

Now, the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families announced that they are partnering with the Boys & Girls Club to help facilitate the transition and allow all Whatcom County sites to open under new licenses by the end of the year.
