OLYMPIA, Wash. — States with a history of fighting air pollution generated by coal-fired power plants criticized a move by President Trump’s administration to scale back federal restrictions on emissions, with some threatening court challenges.
Governor Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson, both Democrats, plan to hold a news conference Wednesday on the administration’s proposal, announcing more actions against their longtime foe.
They are part of a coalition that includes officials from fifteen other states, the District of Columbia, four cities and one county who defend former President Barack Obama’s 2015 Clean Power Plan, which requires reductions in climate-changing emissions from fossil-fuel-burning plants.
.@AGOWA Ferguson and I denounced the Trump administration's rollback of the Clean Power Plan. On behalf of our state, our environment, and Washingtonians concerned about the impacts of global climate change, we will challenge this unlawful action in court.https://t.co/pxgCW9mTq7 pic.twitter.com/iOiXeK0qWL
