BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Police are trying to figure out who’s been setting off a string of explosions near downtown Bellingham over the past two weeks.

The first 3 explosions were around 2 a.m. on August 16th on Ellis and York streets.

Officers found burn marks and damage on a bridge and a bus shelter in the area.

Another similar blast in the same area happened just before 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, Sept. 5.

This time, the explosion shattered a bus shelter’s plastic windows and roof.

The Bellingham Police bomb squad thinks the blasts are related.

Police spokeswoman Danette Beckley says the explosive looks like a “big firecracker.”
