SUMAS, Wash. – The state continues to investigate a Sumas blueberry farm following the death of a Mexican farm worker.

Meanwhile, Cliff Woolley with Sarbanand Farms says the company is paying to send the man’s coworkers back home.

“We gave them the choice, they could either fly home or ride a bus home, and we will pay their expenses and also give them cash for travel and so they’re just signing up on the list of which way they want to go home,” Woolley tells KGMI.

Honesto Silva Ibarra complained of headaches after picking blueberries.

Woolley said in a statement earlier this week that Silva suffered from diabetes, and had run out of medication but did not tell anyone.

He later died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The death led to labor strife and a volley of accusations between the Mexican workers and Sarbanand management.
