WASHINGTON, D.C. – In contrast to the weather outside right now, National Sunshine Week kicked off on Sunday, March 13th.
Sunshine Week celebrates openness in government and the role it plays in democracy.
The Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, gives anyone the right to almost any record kept by governmental entities, with some exemptions to protect law enforcement, personal privacy and national security.
The purpose of Sunshine Week is to encourage the public to exercise that freedom and learn more about the way it.
