CINCINNATI, Ohio — A national supermarket chain with a local footprint will have a role in COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
Kroger, the parent company of the Fred Meyer stores in Bellingham and Burlington, has been signed on by the US health and human services department as part of “Operation Warp Speed” to provide the inoculations once they are approved by the FDA.
The Wall Street Journal reports the grocers and drug store chains enlisted are rushing to secure freezers, thermometers and other medical gear, while training staff and establishing online services for scheduling appointments.
CBS reports first shipments of the Pfizer vaccine could come as soon as December 14th; with the Moderna vaccine following a week later.
