SEATTLE, WASH. – Two people survive a plane crash into a snow-covered ridge in Olympic National Park Sunday with minor injuries.

They’re recovering at Harborview Medical Center.

The State Department of Transportation’s Tom Peterson says the pilot didn’t file a flight plan, but says it isn’t unusual.

“Flight plan for VFR flying, or not flying in the clouds, is basically the search-and-rescue plan. So, if you don’t make it to your destination on time, we know what your intentions were and we know where to start looking and where to look,” Peterson says.

Investigators believe the flight was a training mission.
