BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man was arrested after robbing a bank in downtown Bellingham on Saturday, September 24th.
Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy said officers were called to the Key Bank on North State Street just after 10 a.m.
Witnesses said the suspect gave an employee a note, in which he threatened to shoot them if he didn’t get a specific amount of cash.
The suspect left on foot after the cash was given to him.
Employees were able to identify the suspect as 50-year-old Isaiah Eraut.
Eraut was arrested a short time later on Cornwall Avenue, where most of the stolen cash was recovered.
Ten minutes prior to the robbery, employees at the Whatcom County Jail had called 911 after Eraut showed up and demanded to speak to an officer about robbing a bank.
As the officers were on their way, Eraut became agitated and went straight to the bank.
He is being held on $50,000 bail.
