SEDRO WOOLLEY, Wash. – Police have arrested a suspect in a hit and run on I-5 south of Bellingham that left a Western Washington University student badly injured.
State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman says officers arrested Luis Gomez Gutierrez in Sedro Woolley on Monday.
Troopers located the suspect vehicle on Bow Hill on Tuesday and Axtman says it had damage that was consistent with what investigators expected.
She says a member of the public tipped off the State Patrol after they released a description of the suspect vehicle last week.
On January 31st troopers responded to reports of a man walking in the southbound lanes of I-5 and found Lucas Brazier badly injured on the side of the road.
He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday.
