MOSCOW, Idaho – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the deaths of four University of Idaho students.
28-year-old Bryan Kohberger was arrested early Friday, December 30th, by Pennsylvania State Police at a home in the Poconos.
He is being held for extradition to Idaho on a warrant for first degree murder charges, and an extradition hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 3rd.
Kohberger is a PhD student in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University.
The Idaho students, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin of Mount Vernon were all stabbed to death at a rental home near campus in the early morning hours of November 13th.
Investigators were unable to name a suspect or locate a murder weapon for weeks.
But the case broke open after law enforcement asked the public for help finding a white Hyundai Elantra sedan seen near the home around the time of the killings.
All four victims were members of the university’s Greek system and close friends.
