YAKIMA, Wash. – A strike team has been deployed in Washington to support COVID-19 infection control.
The Washington State Department of Health and the Yakima Health District have been partnering for the last two weeks to fight the spread of the illness as the hard-hit Yakima County has multiple outbreaks.
A team of ten infection specialists arrived on May 11 to help with testing and guidance, assessing outbreaks at long term care facilities, a meat-packing plant, a fruit-packing plant, and a jail.
They are currently working with state agencies to put together a comprehensive guidance document for farmworkers.
