A teenager was injured when he was hit while crossing Lake Louis Road in Sudden Valley.

It happened the day before Thanksgiving.

Doug Chadwick with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says the 15 year old boy had just gotten off an eastbound WTA bus.

“Rather than cross in front of the bus, for whatever reason, he transited behind the bus and then crossed between a car that was behind the bus, stopped, and went to cross into the westbound lane to get to the other side of the road way and unfortunately was struck by a westbound vehicle” says Chadwick.

The boy was treated at the scene by South Whatcom Fire and Rescue and then taken to the hospital.

His current condition hasn’t been released.

Chadwick says officers on the scene determined there was no way the driver could see the boy in time to stop and no citations were issued.
