BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Three local organizations are teaming up to build affordably-priced, energy-efficient townhomes, and they’re inviting the community to the groundbreaking next week.

Kulshan Community Land Trust, Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County and Whatcom Community Foundation plan to build fifty-four townhomes over the next seven years as part of the Telegraph Road Townhomes Project.

The homes will have mortgages as low as $350-a-month and will be built for affordable long-term maintenance.

The project is funded by community partnerships, private donations and grants.

To RSVP to the Groundbreaking Event on Thursday, June 21 at 1050 Telegraph Road, send an email to Outreach Coordinator Kendra Meyer (kendrameter@kulshanclt.org). Parking for the Groundbreaking is across the street at Unity Church of Bellingham.

“These households will gain stability and the opportunity to leave behind a paycheck-to-paycheck lifestyle,” says Dan Fearing of the Kulshan CLT. “Their children will stay in the same school district longer, they’ll live closer to their work, and they’ll build stronger connections with neighbors and local businesses.”
