BELLINGHAM, WASH – Living just north of the Bellingham Airport runway is one of the loudest spots in the county when it comes to transportation noise.
NPR reports the Department of Transportation put together a map showing the volume of road noise and airplane noise.
The loudest spot in Whatcom County is a cone just around the airport and it stretches north right to the border.
Road noise is also quite loud near the freeway, and on major county routes like Birch Bay Lynden and the Mt. Baker Highway.
It’s the quietest where there aren’t any major highways or airports.
