The Tour de Whatcom is back, and registration is now open!
For the 16th year, the ride welcomes riders from all over Washington to experience the best of Whatcom County’s landscape.
Featuring four different routes, varying from 22 to 100 miles, riders will see everything from Mt Baker to the Puget Sound.
The ride leaves from Boundary Bay Brewery in Bellingham on July 17th.
The event will follow CDC guidelines and State Mandates to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Some of the notable changes this year are…
-Masks will be required at the start area and rest stops but not while riding.
-Riders will receive a brown bag of snacks the morning of their ride (7:30-10:30 am) to take with them and an itemized list will be sent the week prior so you can plan accordingly.
-Rest stops will only have restrooms, hand washing stations and water stations this year with one exception of a mid-way food stop in Lynden for Century Riders only.
-Each ride will have a one hour window start time in order to stagger riders and the start line will be in the alley behind Boundary Bay instead of in front on Railroad.
-There is no official After Party this year but Boundary Bay Brewery (all ages) will be open for beers, BBQ and their full menu. Riders receive Happy Hour priced drinks when you show your bib!
-The Bike Corral has been suspended for 2021.
-There will not be photographers on the route this year.
Individuals may register for either the 22, 44, 62 or 100-mile rides. Current prices vary from $40-55 per person and prices will increase $15 per rider after May 16th. There are also reduced prices for tandem riders and for families (living in the same household) or three – six riders. Riders must be at least 10 years old for safety reasons.
