The Kraken improved to 17-14-9 with the win.

Huskies star receiver Ja’Lynn Polk announced that he’s heading to the NFL Draft.

The fourth-year sophomore is coming off a season in which he caught over 1,100 yards and scored 10 touchdowns.

He closed out his Washington career with 4 catches for 37 yards against Michigan.

Polk’s departure marks the first of what could be many Huskies that head to the draft, including fellow receivers Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan.

 

A pair of Whatcom County prep basketball standouts have the national spotlight on them.

Nominees for the 2024 McDonald’s All American Games were announced yesterday.

Lynden senior guard Anthony Canales and Nooksack Valley senior guard Devin Coppinger were among the potential selections.

Canales has won the 2A state tournament MVP in each of the past two years for the two-time defending champion Lions.

Coppinger is committed to playing for the Washington Huskies next season after leading the Pioneers to their first-ever state title.

Freshman Hunter Calloway scored 20 points for the Storm in the win.

Nooksack Valley girls beat Squalicum 63-27 to improve to 12-1 on the season.

The Blaine girls beat Meridian 49-34 on KGMI.

Meridian boys avenged them with a 72-48 win over Blaine.

Lynden boys crushed Mount Baker 72-29.

Lynden girls followed with a 81-24.

Bellingham boys topped Oak Harbor 56-45.

And the Bellingham girls fell to Oak Harbor 49-16.
