LUMMI NATION, Wash. – There are still a lot of escaped non-native salmon in the Salish Sea.
They came from collapsed fish farm pen near Cypress Island.
The state and Lummi Nation estimate there are still more than 100,000 Atlantic salmon out there.
The collapsed pen held about 305,000.
The Lummi tribe says its fishers have caught almost 44,000.
The company that operates the farm says it’s recovered around 146,000.
Recreational anglers and other tribes say they’ve hauled-in about 13,000.
