BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A big crowd of middle and high school students along with supportive adults rallied against school violence at Bellingham City Hall today.
Some students held signs and spoke in favor of gun law reforms while others said they came out to show solidarity with the students and staff of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and to memorialize the 17 people who died in last week’s shooting there.
Many decried the lack of legislative action following the latest school massacre.
There was a small group of young counter protesters who chanted that gun control isn’t the answer but the large crowd mostly drowned them out.
There was a heavy police presence but the rally was peaceful.
