WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash.- A three-county chase that started in Whatcom County led to an overnight DUI arrest.
According to Bellingham Police reports, Lummi Police officers were attempting to stop a suspected drunk driver in a U-Haul van around 12:40 am on Wednesday.
The car refused to stop, and sped off onto I-5 SB.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputies, Bellingham Police, and State Patrol officers all assisted in tracking down the van as it barrelled through Whatcom County.
WSP continued the chase beyond the county line, where the vehicle hit speeds close to 100 mph.
KIRO reports that at one point during the pursuit, someone in the van threw a bong out of the window.
The van got off of I-5 at Smokey Point in Snohomish County, then drove the wrong way in the NB lanes before eventually coming to a stop.
The driver, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and turned over to Whatcom County law enforcement.
