PORT TOWNSEND, WASH. – The ride ended prematurely for some Ferris wheel riders in Port Townsend Thursday night.

Bill Beezley with East Jefferson Fire and Rescue says two women and a young boy were thrown from one of the carts.

“Witness reported that their cart kind of spun sideways and all three were ejected simultaneously out of it,” Beezley says.

Beezley says they tumbled roughly 15 feet to the ground.

“Witnesses have told me the first woman who was ejected out of the cart landed on one ankle and her head and she is the most seriously injured,” he says.

She had to be airlifted to Harborview.

The ride was shut down.
