SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Mountlake Terrace High school and two other schools in Snohomish County will not have on-campus officers when students return.

After weeks of debate with district residents and students, the Edmonds School District decided to cut ties with local police departments.

School board directors voted unanimously Tuesday night to end contracts with the Edmonds, Lynnwood, and Mountlake Terrace police departments amid nationwide outcry over police brutality against Black people.

The School Board President said in a news release that they are determined to review current plans and will make necessary systemic changes to ensure the safety of all students.
