SEATTLE, Wash. — The Pacific Northwest got a beating in a thunderstorm Saturday night, shocking forecasters.

PSE reports thousands lost power and the Husky game was delayed by 2-and-a-half-hours as more than 2,200 lightning strikes hit the area.

The National Weather Service says Whatcom County alone saw more than 300.

While forecasters were expecting the storm, they didn’t expect the lowlands to see as much activity as they did, as they say it’s rare.

Sunday morning kids were out playing in the flooded streets.

Other flooding included the Make.Shift art space, which reported damage to its basement studios.

It’s asking for donations to help renovate to prevent future damage.
