According to The Seattle Times, reliever Thyago Vieira will represent the Seattle Mariners in the All-Star Futures Game during the All-Star break. The Brazil native was named to the World team in the 2017 Futures Game Thursday. The All-Star Futures Game showcases the top minor league prospects from around baseball making up a United State and a World team.
In 24 appearances with AA Arkansas, Vieira is 2-2 with two saves and a 3.56 ERA. Of those 24 outings, 19 were scoreless.
The rosters are selected by MLB and also include input from MLB.com, Baseball America and each team. Other Mariners that have recently participated include Tyler O’Neil (Canada) last season and Edwin Diaz (Puerto Rico) in 2015.
The Futures game is set for July 9 at Marlins Park.
