OLYMPIA, Wash. — Event organizers and ticket buyers in Whatcom County will be among those sharing millions of dollars in restitution from Brown Paper Tickets.
The Seattle ticket seller’s modest fees gained it a reputation as an economic alternative to giant ticket sellers like StubHub and Ticketmaster.
But the pandemic threw its business into chaos and Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s office says they’ve received over 1100 complaints about unpaid box office receipts and un-refunded tickets.
The AG filed a lawsuit against Brown Paper Tickets last fall, and the Seattle Times now reports the company has agreed to pay $9 million to 45,000 customers.
Among those seeking restitution are youth arts events in February and March last year in Bellingham.
The organizers were never paid for the $3000 worth of tickets that were sold.
