BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Tim Ballew II, who was recently appointed to the at-large position of the Whatcom County Council, announced Wednesday he’s running for the 42nd District State Senate seat.

Ballew has worked various public service jobs including on the Lummi Nation Education Board and the Policy Board of the Whatcom Council of Governments.

He has also been a strong opponent of Cooke Aquaculture’s net pens and the proposed coal terminal at Cherry Point.

The 42nd District, which includes the majority of Whatcom County, is currently represented by Senator Doug Ericksen of Ferndale.
