ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – A Trans Mountain pipeline is back in operation after a crude oil leak at a transfer station in Abbotsford, BC on Saturday.

Trans Mountain says in a news release that between 900 and 1200 barrels of light crude leaked at the Sumas Pump Station after a pipe fitting failed.

It was detected by monitoring systems.

The company says air and groundwater monitoring is in place, clean-up continues and there’s no threat to the public.

Trans Mountain’s pipeline system carries crude oil from Alberta, Canada to Whatcom and Skagit County refineries and shipping terminals in Vancouver.
