BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A transient man has been arrested after chasing and threatening several people in Bellingham.

Police reports state that a couple called 9-1-1 on Wednesday, March 30th, after the suspect chased them through Squalicum Creek Park.

They told dispatchers that he had a large cutting instrument and was threatening to kill and rape them and their infant child.

Other witnesses said that the suspect, identified as 49-year-old James Solvey, had been chasing and threatening other parkgoers earlier in the day.

Solvey was located inside of a nearby dental center and taken into custody.

He faces felony harassment charges and has a lengthy criminal record of harassing people in public.
