CENTRALIA, Wash. (AP) — A semi-truck carrying used oil overturned on I-5 Wednesday morning at the Thurston-Lewis county line, spilling about 1,800 gallons across the northbound lanes.
KOMO reports the crash coated a 5-mile stretch on I-5 due to vehicles driving through the oil spill prior to the closure, which slowed down the cleanup even more.
Nearly half of the oil leaked onto the freeway and the surrounding environment before it could be stopped.
The driver of the tanker was not seriously injured but was arrested for DUI.
