MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Social media posts and other digital records led the FBI to two Mount Vernon men who said they smoked marijuana inside the U.S. Capitol as they took part in the January 6 riot.
KOMO reports agents were tipped off by acquaintances of Brian Raymond Jones and Patrick John King that the two were inside the building that day.
Surveillance video showed them in the capitol rotunda and records from their cellphones and Google accounts also placed them there during the riot.
Jones had taken photos and videos of them inside the capitol, and King boasted online of going to “punk” Congress and smoking weed in the building.
Both men face multiple charges.
